Zip World Slate Caverns - Deep Mine Tour

Take a step back into the 19th century as you’re submerged 500ft into the rich history of the Deep Mine tour, where you’ll spend approximately an hour and 15 minutes soaking up all there is to know about Llechwedd’s fascinating past. Learn all about this iconic mine’s 16 underground levels – including where the famous Llechwedd Cheese is matured, and the 8 underwater layers.

With an impressive display of light projection and enhanced reality technology, you’ll learn all about the work undergone by the former miners, including a talk from John Whitehead Greaves, the owner and founder of Llechwedd. See first-hand where the world-class slate was produced by local men and children, who risked their lives everyday to provide the world with this famous slate.

Being completely underground, Caverns is an all-weather activity, making it a good plan for when the worst of the Welsh weather hits. Suitable for all ages. Some steps to climb down (the train brings you back up!)
